Boulder Creek Winery began
production in September of 2003 with the crush of 16 tons of
fresh grapes - Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and
Cabernet Franc.
Our growers, located four hours
and two mountain passes to the west of our winery, hand harvest
our grapes when we mutually determine that optimal ripeness has
been achieved. Our grapes are then loaded in 1/2 ton bins
onto refrigerated trucks which deliver them to our winery.
Immediately upon arrival, our
crushing team unloads the bins into our temperature-controlled
storage area, and one by one, the bins of grapes are sorted,
crushed, and pumped - either into the press for white wines or
into tanks for red wines.
We rely on our expert growers to
produce premium quality grapes. Likewise, they rely on us
to shepherd that fruit through the winemaking process.
Thus, Boulder Creek Winery's
guiding principal of wine production is to celebrate the journey
of the grape from vine to glass by gently controlling and
monitoring conditions that optimize the ability of our premium
quality grapes to transform themselves into premium quality
wines.
